Delegating access with Namecheap Hosting

1. Log in to your Namecheap account.

2. From the Dashboard, select "Domain List" from the left sidebar.

3. Find the domain for which you want to provide delegate access and click on "Manage" on the right side.

4. In the domain control panel, select the "Sharing & Transfer" tab.

5. In the "Sharing" section, click on "Add New User" button.

6. You will be asked to input the username or email of the Namecheap account you wish to provide access to. Enter this information, then click the "Add" button.

7. You'll then need to select the permissions you want to give this user. You can choose from:

   • DNS and Email Settings
   • Domain Contacts
   • Sharing & Transfer Options

8. Once you've selected the permissions, click on "Confirm".

The user will receive an email notifying them that they now have delegated access to the selected domains and services. They can access these from their own Namecheap account, under "Shared Access" in the sidebar of their Dashboard.

Remember to only grant the necessary permissions to maintain security, and review these settings periodically to ensure they're still appropriate. Always keep your login details private and only share access with trusted individuals.

Delegating access with InMotion Hosting

1. Set Up Server Access:

   • Log into your cPanel account. This control panel provides access to your hosting account's backend, allowing the installation of new programs and adding of new domains.
   • Alternatively, set up SSH access if your developer needs to manage your server at the command line.

2. Provide FTP Access:

   • Create an FTP account for your developer. FTP allows them to access your server's files directly, facilitating tasks such as uploading sites or installing WordPress plugins.
   • If you need to give your developer extensive access, you can create an FTP account that allows access to everything on all of your sites.

3. Manage Site Logins:

   • Provide them with site-specific logins, such as WordPress logins. This is the lowest level of access but allows control over the site itself.
   • Ensure they have the necessary permissions to make changes, such as updating themes or adding articles.

4. Secure Account Access:

   • Change your cPanel password before sharing it with your developer. This way, your AMP (Account Management Panel) password, which should remain confidential, remains secure.
   • Set up a developer passphrase in AMP. This feature verifies the identity of your developer when they contact customer support and disallows billing changes during that session.
